This past week was mainly focused on life stuff first - some stuff going on with friends, my PAY DA BILLS JERB- and then my online responsibilities.
I redid the Steam store page for The Infected. I think folks were missing just how customizable the game is, including the ability to turn off the AI, and I think it sounds a bit more cohesive. I removed the old story fragment because it kinda just sat there awkwardly, and doesn’t quite make sense to me as work continues on the story. (Yes, I’m also helping with the small story/lore for the game, which is definitely mental spoons intensive because everything currently in the game is already there, so it has to make sense...)
I’ve also been lobbying hard to get more information about Derelicts.
Like, fucking hard.
If you are a Derelicts Patreon backer, you’ve probably noticed that there haven’t been any posted updates (in general or for paid backers) in ages. That prompted a small tirade on this free Patreon post.
Let’s hope it doesn’t drift further into the graveyard, I guess.
Anyway. We’re right on the heels of the next issue (give or take a few days), so let’s slide into this one real quick!

Don’t forget to check out Unity’s Indie Survival Guide, “…an archive of Q&As, live streams, and VODs offers practical insights from devs and industry folks.”
Speaking of Unity! Humble has an asset bundle live for the next 3 days, and a $25 minimum purchase nets you all 14 items.
(And if Unity isn’t your thing, they’ve got a bundle for Godot too! Pay more than the average of $29.46 for 30 items.)
You can use "a tenth" of the AAA "$400 million budget" and still get "not so different results" if you do it right, RuneScape CEO says.

The big thing right now is ALL THE SALESSSS. Both Steam and Fanatical are running solid sales, and Humble has a LONE SURVIVOR bundle active for the next 13-ish days. 12 bucks nets you nine games, and I PERSONALLY WILL FANGIRL for the following: Starsand, Above Snakes, State of Decay 2. (Also, be sure to redeem the keys promptly, as there are time limits and stuff.)
Current gen consoles are fucking overpriced, news at 11.
After ages of silence, there’s been an update to Subsistence, and it’s kinda…meh.

This issue was partially delayed due to LIFE, and partially because the pickings were oddly slim this week in terms of valuable links and stories. A ton of circle jerking about drama, price gouging, and inflation, more back and forth in the Subnautica 2 lawsuit, and just more blah. We’ve got a Next Fest lined up next, so that should bring some great things to chat about!
I’m reading The Pathless Path by Paul Millerd. I recommend checking it out, tbh! It’s not your standard productivity bullshit about WAKE UP EARLIER AND FOCUS AND BE UP AT FOUR TO HUSTLE. It’s more like a reframe on how to stop letting the ‘default path’ run your life. This part really stuck with me, thinking about how neat it is when people reach out with feedback or questions about a piece of content.

So, how about you? Read anything good lately?
